QModeling: Model Rocket Kits - Price List

The WACC™ is one of QModeling's top quality sports class model rocket kits. The original model kits of the WAC Corporal darted into the sky in the 1970's and since then model rocket enthusiast have proudly recreated the honorable WAC Corporal in various versions.

QModeling takes this trend to new heights by creating a MEGA version of this classic that enables the use of both D and E size (24mm) rocket motors for spectacular launches. The WACC is a 2.22:1 up scale of the classic Estes WAC Corporal  kit making it over 28 inches tall. Combined with QModeling's high quality laser cut parts and renowned easy step-by-step instructions your own WACC could be streaking across the sky in no time.

Based on customer feedback, QModeling has broken the deployment barrier by eliminating the crinkling sound of Mylar and the need for wadding lookouts! With the help of Top Flight Recovery, QModeling has created a new high quality recovery system for all their kits. It consists of an 18” Octagon, Thin Mil, Ripstop Nylon Parachute with sewn in 24” Nylon shroud lines, Nomex 5” x 5” Heat Shield Parachute Protector, 9’ Kevlar Shock Cord, and a Snap Swivel. Now there is no need to search out any after market recovery system components, because QModeling builds top quality into all aspects of their kits.

The new professional Recovery System is another sign of QModeling's commitment to quality, listening to customers, and overall goal of offering the best sports class model rockets on the market.

A Bit of History

The original US Army WAC (“Without Any Control”) Corporal was an unguided rocket used for high-altitude research and to provide information and engineering experience to be used in future surface-to-surface missile programs.

In 1944, the Army Ordnance Department began funding a rocket development program by the California Institute of Technology (CIT). The ORDCIT (for "Ordnance" and CIT) project's first product was the Private A, a small solid-propellant rocket to test basic principles of launch operations and flight stability. The ultimate goal of ORDCIT was the development of the Corporal (one up from a Private), a liquid-fueled surface-to-surface missile. By late 1944, enough progress had been made to initiate the development of a small sounding (high-altitude research) rocket based on Corporal propulsion technology.

The WAC Corporal was 16 feet long without a booster and had a long conical nose. It was 12 inches in diameter, not including the three fins. The rocket used a liquid propellant and developed a thrust of 1,500 pounds for 50 seconds, it weighed 200 pounds empty and 660 pounds at launch.
